My favourite pieces
politics
Most people hate politics. I don't know why people do, maybe they think it's annoying that most of the presidents/prime ministers just promise things and never do them. Politicians, most of the time, just lie their way to presidency. So Donald Trump is going for president in 2016. There are people who hate that, and would like him as president. At first I didn't like that a celebrity, that is basically famous because his dad has a lot of money, but after searching about him I think that he would make a great president. Most of my classmates disagreed with me when I said this but I strongly believe that he would be a great president. My reasons for loving Donald Trump are: he has balls, he doesn't care about people's feelings and he's a good negotiator so that would be good for trade, and he will get things done! I would way rather have Donald Trump then have Hillary Clinton, who might be afraid to do important things because they're “risky”. I think Hillary Clinton would care too much about people’s feelings. She would be too afraid to step on somebody to make a good decision for America.
So there is another famous person going for president in 2020. I do not like Kanye West and I don't think he would be a good president, he has too much of an ego, anything anybody says he would think is wrong unless it's what he wants. I think his ego would get in the way of his job. A lot of people think this way about Donald Trump, but I don't think he'd be near as bad as Kanye. Also having a pornstar as the First Lady? Seriously? So I would love to see Donald Trump as president, but Kanye? Not so much. |
HOCKEYI step onto the bench and take a deep breath. In through my nose. Out through my mouth. My nostrils scream when the cold air hits them. I breathe out of my mouth. Seeing my breath. When that vanishes I step on the ice. My skate hit the ice with a clack. Followed by another clack as my other foot hits the ice. I start taking faster steps as I start taking strides. I turned, and with a loud cut I was going the opposite way. I put pegs in the ice and put the net on top of them. Then proceeded to skate down the ice to do the second net. I did the same on that side. I went and got the bin of pucks from the bench. As I skate faster to the bench my ears cringe from the cold, but refreshing air. I grab the bin and dump the pucks on the ice. Each puck with a few bounces before laying flat on the freezing ice surface. I choose a puck from the many spilled on the ice and take it down the ice. Shooting it into the net with a satisfying ripple from the mesh. I go back to the many pucks, and choose another and take a shot on the opposite net. With a loud ding from the post. With a loud cut I get the same puck and go to shoot on the other net. One of the most satisfying feelings in hockey. Snapshot. Top shelf.

Reflection
The hockey piece is a slam poem. I wrote it while on the way home from a hockey game in Kelowna. It is a non-fiction poem. It was in early December and I was the first one on the ice for 5 minutes. I remember when I was out there and it felt so poetic. So that weekend on the way home from hockey I just thought of writing it down so I typed it out on my iPod in slam poem form.
The politics piece is one of my favourites because I talk about my thoughts on Donald Trump (who will make America great again) and Kanye.
